Professional Experience

Apollo Casualty Co/American Independent Insurance Companies – Senior Developer

  • Created a WCF web service that accepts an ACORD formatted XML file, verifies it against an XSD, and forwards the request to a rating module. This module allowed us to standardize the interface for all rating request from insurance aggregators.
  • Created an accompanying web form that used the WCF web service to verify that a broker's XML will pass edits and be rated before beginning live transmissions.
  • Created a data transfer process between AIIC's database and a local agent's policy tracking application. Incoming process involved reading a flat file and creating XML which was then used to update the AIIC data. Outgoing process involved reading the database and creating a flat file to be input into the agent's system. Increased the accuracy and reduced the input time of the underwriting process.
  • Designed and coded the Payment Processing, Invoicing, and Reporting portions of Apollo’s TURMS system. This portion of the application recorded payments received from, disbursements made to, and adjustments needed for a broker. It related these to purchase transactions allowing the company to track balances and create invoices and report sales figures for the Commercial Underwriting division of the company.
  • Performed enhancements and fixes to the TURMS system. The TURMS system captures underwriting data, rates the auto policy, and provides documentation to the insured.
  • Administered the SQL Server database. Including creating tables, stored procedures, performing backups and restores, and tuning the database.
